The Swedish National Defence College (designated FHS in Swedish), is a centre for teaching and research within civil and military areas related to national and international security. The College trains and educates military and civilian personnel who go on to play leading roles in these areas, both nationally and internationally. It specialises in the management of crisis situations and security issues. Although the College has only existed in its present form since 1997, a number of its research groups pre-date this change (having been affiliated with other institutions). Together, these groups provide a well-established expertise in risk- and crisis-related fields.
